Regular Playing Sessions
The table below tells you a little more about the style of each session.
*Note We encourage our novices to play Mondays and/or Wednesdays. They will be using a green pen for bidding and they may exercise one of their limited number of free question cards during bidding or play. After August our new lesson graduates may still refer to their cheat sheets for help when bidding.

Monday Daytime | 13:00 | Monday sessions are relaxed and open to all. Results are handicapped. All sessions are pairs. Walk-ins are welcome on all sessions. Tuesday Evening | 19:00 | Tuesdays are our most competitive sessions; most of our better players regularly play Tuesday nights. Tuesday nights are not handicapped. Walk in pairs are welcome for all match point pairs sessions. Convenor: Lois Cleaver - 027 687 0318 |
Wednesday Evening | 19:00 | Wednesday evening sessions cater for our beginner, novice and improver players. More experienced players are welcome to come along and play in unrestricted (handicapped) sessions however each pair must include one player who has less than 15 rating points. If the competition is not handicapped (eg, Centennial Cup, Kaitake Plate, Teams) players with 15 or more rating points may not play, except that for IMP teams players with 15-40 rating points may play, but as a substitute only. Our Pot Luck Pairs nights are where seasoned players offering to play are randomly paired up up with our novices. Thursday Evening | 19:00 | Thursday nights tend to be our busiest sessions. If the competition is not handicapped (Thurston Cup, Hel Rimu Plate, Swiss Pairs, Cave Plant Nursery Teams) players with 40 or more rating points may not play, except that for Swiss Pairs and Teams events players with 40-80 rating points may play, but as a substitute on one night only. If the competition is handicapped any player may play, but each pair must include one player who is either a junior grade player or an intermediate grade player. Friday | 13:00 | Friday sessions are relaxed, open to all with results handicapped. All sessions are pairs and walk ins are welcome at all sessions. Many members routinely stay on after play for drinks and nibbles. Convenor: Michelle Dryden - 027 499 6366 |
