Our mission is to provide an enjoyable bridge playing experience for all levels of players and to encourage all players to further develop their skills in a friendly, competitive and challenging social atmosphere.
Whether you are new to the game of bridge or have been playing for many years, our club has something that will suit you.

Restricted Pairs Tournament June 14th
Time to register for the Vogeltown Restricted Pairs tournament to be held on 14th June starting 10 a.m.
Morning tea will be served from 9.30a.m. Please bring your own lunch .
The only restriction entry is one Open player per pair.
We look forward to seeing you at this fun , competitive event offering prizes for every combination of players .
John Holdom -Volunteer of the Month
Thank you John for your many years of service and dedication to the New Plymouth Bridge Club!
John has recently resigned as Bar Manager, a job he has carried out for well over a decade. John's work in the bar has been much more than serving drinks - he has helped foster a sense of community and provide a social hub where members can interact and build a sense of belonging in a relaxed setting .
Judy Holdom Memorial Picnic Pairs
The Judy Holdom Memorial Picnic Pairs was a great success with players from New Plymouth , Hawera, Palmerston North and Whanganui enjoying a great day of Bridge . Thanks to our sponsor , the Holdom family, as well as the volunteers and organisers working behind the scenes to make the day possible. Special thank you to Karen Holdom , John and Judy Holdom's daughter who attended and spoke at the prize giving ceremony .

New start time for evening bridge sessions, 7.00 p.m.
Last year the Committee agreed a new start time for all evening bridge sessions for 2025 of 7.00 p.m. The first bridge session for the 2025 year is summer bridge 7.00 p.m. Tuesday 7th January. This new start time will be reviewed at the end of this year after full consultation with members. Friday afternoon bridge starts 10th January at 1.00 p.m. Monday afternoon bridge starts 20th January at 1.00p.m. Wednesday evening bridge starts 22nd January at 7.00p.m. and Thursday evening bridge starts 23rd January at 7.00 p.m.

The Presidents Charity event was a great success raising $1,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. A special thanks to Colin Carryer who managed to raise $400 through fines alone. Quite the Sheriff you are Colin!
Thanks to all those who attended and supported this very worthwhile cause.

Bidding Etiquette
Stop Cards
Whilst stop cards themselves are gone the non use of stop cards does not remove the
requirement for a Player to wait 8 to 10 seconds before bidding if there has been a jump by
his/her Right Hand opponent. The Bidder should use the 8 to 10 seconds to inquire about the bid
..(if they need to know) or just to consider their hand.
This prevents any inference from whether there is a pause or not - because there should always
be a pause
